I asked Colt where he wanted to go for his birthday trip this year and he again chose to see Noah's Ark in Kentucky. He asked to go there earlier last year but we went to Florida instead to take advantage of the short lines at Islands of Adventure because of the Chinavirus. This year we finally made it happen!
To keep up with tradition we flew out of Charlotte via American Airlines and flew directly to Kentucky, and yes, it was first class! Although, we were in first class we were treated like second hand citizens. We have flown several times and this was the worst flight ever. Our attendant was a nightmare. She would not let us remove our mask for anything, at one point she told me I had to leave it on the drink my drink. I thought she was joking, but she said "no, you need to pull it up over your mouth, just enough to get a sip and then pull it back down" It was miserable! We landed late Thursday evening and picked up our rental car at the airport. We drove to the hotel and checked in and then went across the street to Waffle House to grab a late dinner. After breakfast for dinner we went back to the room and got some much needed rest.
P.S you can't see the mask but it says "THIS MASK IS AS USELESS AS OUR GOVERNOR" Yes, that's for you Roy Cooper!!
Don't hate the player... hate the game! I told you Colt and I both like to match when we travel! We had matching shirts on the flight yesterday and today we went full twin, matching shirts and shorts! We made the decision to skip breakfast and eat a big lunch at Emzara's Kitchen later in the day. We arrived at the Ark and was immediately taken away. This thing is HUGE! It is much bigger than I could have imagined. We spent the day walking thru the Ark and taking in as much information as our minds would allow. We ate lunch at Emzara's and was pleased with the food. After lunch we walked around some more and did some of the other attractions they offered, the walk-thru zoo and the virtual reality movie thingy. All in all, it was a great day.
We finished up a bit earlier than we planned, so we hopped in the Taco (toyota tacoma) and headed into Cincinnati to check out the Great American Ball Park that homes the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Unfortunately, the team was on the road that weekend but we went into the gift shop and bought some souvenirs so we could check it off our MLB ball park tour.
I mean really, you're still acting surprised! I told you, we both enjoy matching! Day 3 was slated for the Creation Museum. We spent the day there trying to absorb more information but honestly, we struggled. The Ark is definitely a better idea for a younger person as some of the exhibits were recordings and had movement. The museum is a LOT of reading. Our favorite part was the reptile show that showcased snakes. The whole point of the show was to demonstrate how friendly and cool snakes are and how they got a bad rap from the whole Garden of Eden story. The take away from that show was the introduction to our new pet ball python, Russell. You can see him in the "family" tab at the top of page. After the museum we rode back to Cincinnati to do some sight seeing. I always try to mix some historical information into our trips, as if Noah's Ark isn't historical enough but I can always do more. We drove over to William Howard Taft's house but it was closed due to the Chinavirus but we still walked around and Google'd some info about him. While we were living in the past, we stopped by Arnold's Bar and Grill, which is the oldest continuously operating bar in Ohio and one of the oldest in the US. It opened in 1861. After some cold drinks, we went back to the hotel and got some rest before our flight back home on Sunday.
We don't even need clothes to match, I mean we look so much alike! We got up early and flew home, another successful trip in the books!
